In the first section of the reading, Sophia discusses the definitions of being an "introvert" and an "extrovert." She then gives her own definitions of what she thinks being an introvert or extrovert mean

1. How are her definitions of the words different than what we normally understand? Explain.

2. How does she illustrate one these characteristics?

3. What does she consider herself?

4. How would you describe yourself? [Introvert or Extrovert] Give a justification and examples in the same way that Sophia does.

  1. In the book "Girlboss," Sophia Amoruso define her words differently that what we understand. The reason why she does is because she doesn't really agree with certain definition's. The way she defines some words is the way she can fully understand it. She illustrates on one of these characteristics by giving the process of what it's like being an introvert and an extrovert. Introvert's are known for being shy and Extrovert's were outgoing. Amoruso considered herself an introvert because when she was about 5 years old, she didn't know what a pinata was and when the other kids kept bashing the pinata to get the "surprise" out of it, it finally opened and candy fell to the ground. Sophia didn't run for candy, she turned around and found a table to go under and hide until everyone left. Sophia is not a huge fan of surprises.

I consider myself an extrovert because I'm very outgoing and i like to make friends and make sure I am known. When I had to start third grade in a new school, I was excited and passionate about meeting new peers and teachers. I felt like I was becoming a brand new person to people because they didn't know me. When I walked into my new class, everyone stared and I simply said "Hi!My name is Amanda and I would like to get to know you guys." Doesn't sound very professional but I was only in third grade. Then, I made so many new friends and i felt important and friendly. Till this day, if someone is lost or need help, I am not shy to step in and explain and introduce myself.

  2. Sophia was an introvert person, just because she started an online Ebay store, and she didn't have any good real life connections. later she became more of extrovert person , she made her "online Ebay store" into a real business store (which is worth 280$ million now).
an introvert person for her is someone who is very shy and doesn't really fit in with other crowds.
an extrovert person is someone who is very outgoing, carry's a lot of energy with them.
she consider her self an extrovert person, just because she is very outgoing, she is more a radical person, she is really independent. but she also says that it doesn't matter whether you are an introvert or extrovert , you will still do great things in your life or other peoples life.
I consider her more of a extrovert person.
I find my self in the middle, just because I can be really shy at times, but if you give me good vibes, you will get a lot of me, and I wont be too shy.
but sometimes I can be an extrovert person.

  3. The General definitions:
1a) Extroverts- A very outgoing individual
1b) Introverts- Individuals that are shy and timid

    Amoruso's Definitions:

2a)An extrovert gets their energy from being around a lot of people and society is biased towards them.
2b)An introvert is a extremely thoughtful and creative individual that are much less outgoing, but can be extremely intellectual, sometimes even more so than an extrovert. Introverts are usually considered to be shy and poor leaders, but in truth, they can be very empathetic leaders

  4. Amoruso illustrates these characteristics by talking about one of her birthday parties, where she said she was shocked at the sight of seeing all of the children fighting over candy spilled by the piƱata.

  5. Question #3

Sophia described herself as an introvert, but her version of an introvert. Her version of an Introvert is a extremely smart and thoughtful person.

  6. Question #4

I believe myself to be an Introvert because I do not enjoy large groups, as it can be extremely overwhelming and I prefer to be alone in my room with the lights off because I feel less stressed by myself than I do with others. An example of this would be that I usually freeze during a presentation. The reason behind this is because when I present my mind starts panicking and my mind is overloaded to the point where it shuts down. When I'm in my room there isn't any pressure like that because I'm by myself, so I can think more clearly.

  7. 1) Sophia Amoruso's definitions of the words are different than what we will normally understand with using introvert and extrovert. An Introvert is when a few people are not able to socialize as much as you would expect them to. An extrovert is when people are energetic to function around such a large group of people.
    2) Extroverts are capable of getting their own energy from socializing with a large army of people as in almost 100 people. However an introvert is not able to store its energy in being around thousands of people.
    3) Sophia Amoruso describes herself as being an introvert but an introvert who can feel empathy for other people as well as mentoring them.
    4) I will describe myself as an introvert because i am not shown to raise my hand so much in class, even stood quiet in the debate on abortion i had with my own classmates, to the point i stay too quiet to even ask for help when its always needed for not just me but everyone else.
